FAQs
-
Henna is a natural dye made from the leaves of the Lawsonia Inermis plant. It’s been used for over 5,000 years to stain skin, hair, and nails.
-
These are not natural hennas and often contain harmful chemicals like PPD or other toxins. Anything labeled “black,” “instant,” or “colored” henna falls under the “chemical henna” category. Chemical henna can cause skin irritation, rashes, and even scarring from chemical burns.
-
Jagua is a natural dye made from the juice of the Genipa Americana fruit. It creates a dark blue-black stain without chemicals or PPD.
-
Not at all! Both henna and jagua are applied topically and are completely painless.
-
Exfoliate gently with toothpaste after warm showers or baths, shower daily, and use foundation if needed for coverage.
-
“White henna” is white medical-grade glue applied decoratively to the skin. It doesn’t stain and lasts 1–4 days.
-
Most hand designs take 5–20 minutes, depending on size and detail.
-
Henna stains start orange and deepen to brown within 48 hours. They last 1–4 weeks, depending on skin type and placement.
-
Henna stains darkest on thick skin, such as the palms and soles, and lighter on thinner areas like wrists and backs.
-
Shower beforehand, avoid lotion or oils, and keep the area clean and dry for best results.
-
Leave the paste on for 4–12 hours, then brush it off (without using water). Avoid moisture for 24 hours. The stain darkens over two days and fades naturally over 1–4 weeks.
-
Leave the gel on for 2–4 hours, then wash it off with soap and water. Though no stain may be visible immediately, it will develop over 24–48 hours into a deep blue-black color. It lasts 1–4 weeks.

Yes! My henna is made from natural, organic ingredients. Let me know about any essential oil sensitivities or if you’re pregnant, so I can use a gentler blend. You can also reach out for a spot test if you have any concerns.
-
I hand-mix Rajasthani henna powder, organic lemon juice, raw sugar, and USDA-certified essential oils (tea tree, eucalyptus, or lavender). Custom blends for extra sensitive skin are available.
-
I’m based in Jackson, TN, and meet clients at a local coffee shop. The minimum cost of a henna appointment is $125, which can be applied to one larger design, multiple smaller designs, or smaller designs on more than one person.
-
Henna takes 30–45 minutes to dry. Leave paste on for 4–12 hours, avoid lotions or water the first day, and use oil or balm to protect your stain. It darkens fully after 48 hours.
-
I use safe, natural ingredients in my paste, but always check with your doctor prior to booking a pregnancy appointment. Pregnancy henna paste uses USDA-certified lavender essential oil. Belly designs average $100.
